SFF Author: James S. Murray

James S. Murray is a writer, executive producer, and actor, best known as “Murr” on the hit television show Impractical Jokers on truTV. He is also one of the stars of the TV show The Misery Index on TBS along with his comedy troupe, The Tenderloins. He has worked as the Senior Vice President of Development for NorthSouth Productions for over a decade, is the owner of Impractical Productions, LLC, and is the author of the novels Awakened and The Brink. Originally from Staten Island, he now lives in Manhattan.


Darren Wearmouth’s first novel was the best-selling First Activation that he later sold to Amazon’s publishing imprint, 47North in a two-book deal. THE INVASION TRILOGY and Sixth Cycle have subsequently also been Amazon best-sellers. His next release, Awakened, is through Harper Voyager in collaboration with James Murry of Impractical Jokers. Darren is a member of the International Thriller Writers Group and the British Science Fiction Association, and currently lives in Manchester, England. He also co-hosts a speculative podcast called Casual Loops.

The Brink: Superficial and implausible SF horror

Human monsters take precedence over the creature type of monsters in The Brink (2019), the sequel to last year’s SF horror novel Awakened. (Some spoilers for the first book are in this review, but are also in the publisher’s blurb for this book, so they’re nearly impossible to avoid.)
