fantasy book reviews science fiction book reviews1) Nebula Nominees Announced: A few surprises found a way into the nominees list.

2) Sexiest Characters in SFF: This kind of thing is usually below my threshold for “news,” but it’s a slow news week… so sue me.

3) New Isaac Asimov T-Shirt: The t-shirt is hideous. I just wanted an excuse to put Asimov’s on WWW.

4) Fan-made Superman Posters: Fans make up for the official poster.

5) Mass Effect is the Most Important SF Universe: I’m sure most of you have not played the game called Mass Effect. You are missing out. Mass Effect 2 is easily the greatest SF game I have ever played. The Mass Effect story is as compelling as some of the best SF novels I have read.

6) Obituary: SFF author Ardath Mayhar died on February 1 at the age of 81. In 2008, the Science Fiction Writers of America named her as their author emeritus.

JUSTIN BLAZIER (on FanLit's staff since September 2009) is a Cyber-Security Analyst/Network Engineer located in Northern Kentucky. Like many fantasy enthusiasts, Justin cut his teeth on authors like Tolkien, Anthony, and Lewis. Due to lack of space, his small public library would often give him their donated SFF books.
