Tiassa: Some of the smartest and most entertaining fantasy around

Steven Brust Vlad Taltos Tiassa fantasy book reviews, Steven Brust Vlad Taltos TiassaTiassa by Steven Brust

Tiassa is a wonderful novel, but could be one of the worst places to start for a newcomer to the series, because anyone who isn’t familiar with several plot lines and characters from past books would miss most of what’s going on… Tiassa offers several separate stories told from multiple points of view, which pull together threads from the other books in the series while still delivering a coherent plot centered on a mysterious object: the silver tiassa… every section of the novel deals with a carefully constructed plot or scam that eventually turns out to be something completely different from what you (and most of the characters) thought it would be… Completing the puzzle, the shorter segments offer some revelations that should get Dragaera fans really excited, including a dizzying look through the eyes of Devera the Wanderer, and some things it would just be cruel to spoil, as much as I want to talk about them here… If you’re not reading the Dragaera novels yet, you’re missing out on some of the smartest and most entertaining fantasy around. Read the rest.

  1. Kat

This is a series I know I’d like.

  2. Stefan

You should try it, Kat! It’s one of the only series I know that’s very complex but still fun.

  3. Kelly Lasiter

There’s a Twitter hashtag for ifeelallproductiveandstuff? LOL. I love it.

  4. Stefan

I kinda might have made that one up a little bit. ;)

  5. Kelly Lasiter

I may have to use it sometime though, assuming I ever remember what my Twitter password was. ;)

I love the Vlad books. So far Taltos is my favorite, but the others are great too. And I can’t wait to read this.

  7. Talieos

I bought this book yesterday and so far i love it, But there is one thing that pisses me off. the is a ink smudge over one of the words on page 51 i can not make it out and it bugs the hell out of me.

    This is the sentience.
“The tagging _ied to him,so he just rubs it off.”
If anyone knows the blanked word is please tell me. Thanks.

  8. Stefan

Hi Talieos, I only have an ARC of the book (which has different paging), but if you can tell me in which chapter and approximately where in the chapter that sentence is, I’ll look it up for you.

  9. Talieos

Yes, it is chapter 2 thank you.

  10. Stefan

Here’s what it says in my copy (which is an advance uncorrected proof, but it should be the same in the final copies):

“The tagging is tied to him, so he just rubs it off.”

  11. Talieos

That’s it!! Thank you, You rock man.
