Kristen Callihan is a child of the 80’s, which means she’s worn neon skirts, black-lace gloves, and combat boots (although never all at once) and can quote John Hughes movies with the best of them. A life long daydreamer, she finally realized that the characters in her head needed a proper home and thus hit the keyboard. She believes that falling in love is one of the headiest experiences a person can have, so naturally she writes romance. Her love of superheroes, action movies, and history led her to write historical paranormals. She lives in the Washington D.C. area and, when not writing, looks after two children, one husband, and a dog.

Firelight: Sheer fun!

Firelight by Kristen Callihan

Firelight is a paranormal romance set in 1881, and is the first in Kristen Callihan’s new series DARKEST LONDON. I urge all paranormal romance fans to give it a try — Firelight is sheer fun!

The plot contains many elements of the “Beauty and the Beast” fairy tale. Miranda Ellis is roped into an arranged marriage with the mysterious masked Lord Archer as a result of the misdeeds of her father.

Shadowdance: Did Not Finish

Shadowdance by Kristen Callihan

Let me start this DNF review by saying that I have not read the previous books in Kristen Callihan’s DARKEST LONDON romance series. The books, which are set in a paranormal Victorian London, have overlapping characters, but each focuses on a different couple. My failure to enjoy Shadowdance has nothing to do with my unfamiliarity with the world or characters — I was able to pick up on those things well enough. My issues are with this particular story. I wouldn’t be surprised if I liked other DARKEST LONDON books a lot better (Kelly  likes the first one).
