Some of your favorite authors take some time to answer our questions:

Got any news to share?

Alma Alexander: Short stories all over the place — I have stories in the anthologies Dark Faith: Invocations, Scheherazade’s Facade, and Airships and Automatons, all either coming out imminently or already out there ready for purchase… also, a story in the latest issue of Phantom Drift magazine, one which I am very happy has found a home.

Pip Ballantine: Well my husband, Tee Morris, and I just signed another two book deal for more MINISTRY OF PECULIAR OCCURRENCES books, which we are very excited about. The third book, Dawn’s Early Light has been delivered to the publisher. So looking forward to what 2013 has in store.

What are you working on these days?

Alex Bledsoe: I’m finishing the fifth EDDIE LACROSSE novel, with the working title He Drank, and Saw the Spider. And working on some secret projects.

Rachel Aaron: I’m about to start on the third book in a new science fiction trilogy I’m writing for Orbit about a badass powered armor mercenary and the troubles she gets into. Think Killashandra meets Aeon Flux with powered armor, a bittersweet romance, a big mystery, and lots of shooting. How can you go wrong? It’s not as light as my early ELI books or as dark as my later ones, but I think it has the same rip roaring adventure feel over all.

Read any good books lately?

Violette Malan: Kari Sperring’s The Grass King’s Concubine, Howard Andrew Jones’ The Desert of Souls, and Jim C. Hines’ Libriomancer.

Jim C. Hines: The one I’m recommending most this year is Redemption in Indigo by Campbell award nominee Karen Lord. It’s different and thoughtful and fantastic. I also just finished Diana Rowland‘s My Life as a White Trash Zombie, which was a fun read.
